This software was developed for GSFC’s MAVEN (Mars Atmosphere and Volatile EvolutioN) program. The source of the MAVEN software was previously NASA program baselines for Juno, GRAIL, and MRO. Reused and re-engineered code from previous programs was combined with some new code to form the MAVEN program software baseline.

The flight software portion of the MAVEN software is contained in the spacecraft onboard computer to fly the mission. The test bed simulation portion of the MAVEN software is used to test the flight code. The Test Software portion is used to test avionics and ATLO hardware.

The designations of the MAVEN software are Flight Software (FSW), Simulation Software (SIM), SoftSim Software (SSIM), and Test Software (Board & Box, System EGSE).
