Aerial Construction: Flying Quadrocopters Build Tensile Structures

In this video, researchers from ETH Zurich's Institute for Dynamic Systems and Control demonstrate how their flying machines can build tensile structures. Watch as a quadrocopter autonomously spans rope between two support points in the ETH Zurich Flying Machine Arena. It creates surface structures by using already placed ropes as new support points. It is then joined by another - multiple machines can work together. This is part of a body of research in aerial construction, a field that addresses the construction of structures with the aid of flying machines.
