3D-Printed Plastic Skull Successfully Implanted in Patient

Neurosurgeons at Netherlands' University Medical Center Utrecht successful performed an operation implanting a customized plastic skull in a 22-year old woman. The patient was suffering from headaches due to the thickening of her skull, and had slowly lost her eyesight. The 23-hour operation was led by neurosurgeon Dr. Bon Verweij, who worked with Anatomics, an Australian company specializing in 3D printing.
