Meet TEO: A Robot that Irons Your Clothes

With the intention of finding a practical solution and feasible implementation to a dull domestic task - like ironing - researchers from Charles III University of Madrid, Spain have developed an algorithm that combines 3D perception with force/torque sensing. They performed experiments with a humanoid robot platform, proving that their algorithm can detect successfully wrinkles present in garments and reduce them using an unmodified iron. Their technology will be demonstrated at the 2017 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems.
