Future of Autonomous Air Travel? New Cargo Air Vehicle (CAV) Prototype

Boeing  has recently completed initial flight tests of an electric vertical-takeoff-and-landing (eVTOL) unmanned cargo aerial vehicle (CAV) prototype. The prototype measures 15 by 18 feet and weighs over 700 pounds. It features eight counter-rotating propeller blades and custom Boeing batteries that allow for vertical flight. Researchers are transforming the remote control-operated CAV prototype into an autonomous aircraft capable of carrying up to 500 pounds. The technology opens up new possibilities for delivery and conducting autonomous missions in remote or dangerous environments.
