'FingerPing' Wearable Recognizes Small Hand Gestures to Control Smart Tech

Using acoustic sounds emitted from a ring and received by a wristband, this wearable system from Georgia Tech  can recognize 22 different micro finger gestures that could be programmed to various commands - including application commands like playing or stopping music. 'FingerPing' can recognize hand poses using the 12 bones of the fingers and digits '1' through '10' in American Sign Language.Tech Briefs spoke to lead researcher Cheng Zhang about promising applications for the technology.
