Smart Fabric Can Sense User Activities

Researchers at MIT are using a novel fabrication process to develop a form-fitting material that can sense the wearer's motions. See how they use a unique process called thermoforming to create these smart fabrics.

“With digital knitting, you have this freedom to design your own patterns and also integrate sensors within the structure itself, so it becomes seamless and comfortable, and you can develop it based on the shape of your body,” says Irmandy Wicaksono , research assistant in the MIT Media Lab.
