Engineers Test Grid Stability by Teaching Inverters to Sing

Researchers at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory have developed an impedance measurement tool to study grid stability — learn how they teach inverters to sing and harmonize together to improve renewable power systems.

"We develop tools that allow us to quickly switch between frequencies that we are injecting into the grid," said Przemek Koralewicz , a co-developer of GIST. "And to generate music, we use exactly the same tools."
