On-Demand Webinars: Transportation

IoT’s Role in Today’s Transportation Systems

The Internet of Things, a vast and ever growing network of connected devices and systems, is helping the transportation industry change for the better. Fleet management, for example, is using IoT for vehicle scheduling, routing, monitoring, maintenance, and performance. Railway systems use it to monitor train speed, sense problems with infrastructure, automatically shift routes, and avoid accidents. Toll systems employ IoT to adjust pricing and facilitate real-time payment, and construction vehicles and mass transit buses are implementing IoT to improve safety, not just for the driver, but for nearby structures and pedestrians.

This 60-minute Webinar discusses technologies that are bringing IoT to transportation applications. The products examined include wireless modules, antennas, sensors, inductors, transformers, filters, circuit protection, and thermal products. Long-haul container management, for instance, employs internal sensors to gather and broadcast real‑time data on everything from temperature and humidity to CO2 levels. It also facilitates real-time GPS tracking of containers, provides automatic notifications that keep cargo owners aware of any deviations in internal environmental conditions, and enables cargo rerouting for improved end-product survival.

An audience Q&A follows the technical presentation.
