MEMS and Sensors: The Digital Transformation of Healthcare

HOSTED BY:

Digital technology is transforming healthcare, from treating patients after they get sick to a future of preventive care. This shift is being enabled by multiple exponential technologies including AI and a dramatically expanded domain of health sensors to extract personal health information—analyzing and sensing everything required to early detect diseases including blood, biome, genome, DNA, neurological signals, and the health of internal organs. These systems are based on derivations of classical silicon sensors (MEMS) as well as newly emerging printed, flexible, and stretchable sensors on paper and plastic platforms and e-textiles which are enabling wearable applications. This 60-minute Webinar from the editors of Medical Design Briefs looks at the development of these systems and the impact they will have on next-generation medical devices.

An audience Q&A follows the technical presentation.

Speakers:

Janusz Bryzek, Ph.D., Executive Chairman and Chief Visionary Officer, eXo Imaging

Dr. Janusz Bryzek, one of the pioneers of MEMs and the "Father of Sensors," has co-founded eleven pioneering Silicon Valley MEMS companies, including Sensym, NovaSensor, eXo Imaging, and the non-profit TSensors Summit. Janusz has published more than 250 papers, chaired international conferences, authored 35 U.S. patents, and initiated several sensor standardization efforts. He has been recognized for his work on numerous occasions, including by Sensors Expo, which presented him with the 2018 Industry Impact Award for Engineering Excellence. Janusz received his master's degree and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the Warsaw University of Technology and completed the Executive Management Program at Stanford University.

Roger Grace, President, Roger Grace Associates

Roger H. Grace is the Founder and President of Roger Grace Associates, where he provides a broad spectrum of marketing-consulting services for the sensors, MEMS, IC, and capital equipment markets. He has published more than 80 technical papers and given over 100 presentations worldwide on technology commercialization. In 2016, Roger received the inaugural Industry Impact Award from the Sensors Expo. Roger holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering from Northeastern University. He also received an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley, where he was a visiting lecturer from 1990 to 2003.
