How to Increase Productivity in EV Design by Leveraging Thermal Simulation

SPONSORED BY:

In the electrification era, thermal management system design requires a complex approach to ensure vehicle performance and customer satisfaction. System design and controls influence vehicle range, cabin comfort, and vehicle performance, and it is important to use a robust approach to understand relationships and tradeoffs within these systems. Studies of fast-running, system-level models to detailed thermal analysis of subsystems are enabled by virtual analysis.

Critical systems, such as battery packs and integrated motors, require proper cooling to meet performance and range requirements. With the increasing scope of model capabilities comes the need for quick and efficient editing capabilities within the boundary conditions and test cases for multiple parties’ needs. GT-Play, a web-based interface for GT-SUITE, can directly assist with this using a central location for model download, analysis, and design decisions, with a select group of experts overseeing the model uses and capabilities.

This 60-minute Webinar showcases how thermal analysis can be utilized within the GT platform—from early conceptual design to detailed component thermal—through examination of real-world use cases and a step-by-step workflow demonstration.

Demonstration includes:

  • An expert walkthrough of an integrated thermal management model uploaded to GT-Play
  • A step-by-step examination, from component selection to CFD analysis, that ends with merging into a larger system using unique productivity tools
  • A look at the process for three different end users: vehicle test engineers, CAE engineers, and calibration engineers

An audience Q&A follows the technical presentation.
