Everything You Need to Know About Virtual ECU Abstraction Levels

SPONSORED BY:

Growing electronic/electrical (E/E) architecture complexity and software content in modern vehicles has propelled the use of virtualization-based testing to develop and validate functions and software components more effectively. The simulation of electronic control units (ECUs) as virtual ECUs (vECUs) has found rapid adoption in several phases of automotive development. This 30-minute Webinar will provide a greater understanding of the vECU levels and how to apply them, as well as how vECUs are helping solve current and future software test challenges.

Topics includes:

  • The various vECU types and abstraction levels and their applicability
  • A proposed expansion to the governing definition of vECU levels
  • A sharpened definition of the L4 abstraction level
  • A look at both AUTOSAR/Non-POSIX and POSIX types of operating systems

A Q&A session will follow the technical presentation.

Speaker:

Filip Thoen, Ph.D., Synopsys Scientist, Synopsys

Dr. Filip Thoen serves as a Synopsys Scientist in the System Design Group at Synopsys. He is the Product Architect for Synopsys' virtual prototyping portfolio and responsible for defining the technology and product direction. Filip co-founded and served as Chief Technology Officer for Virtio Corp. until its acquisition by Synopsys in 2006. He previously was a Researcher at National Semiconductor and IMEC (Belgium) and focused on system-level and HW/SW co-design. Filip holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium. He has more than 20 years of experience in system-level design, simulation, embedded software, and HW/SW co-verification.
