2020 Trends in Electronics Sourcing

SPONSORED BY:

Trade wars, Covid, and other disruptive forces have created increasing complexity and uncertainty for most manufacturers. Nowhere is this more evident than in the high-tech value chain – which also is a rapidly changing marketplace. Excellence in component sourcing and creating connected processes across the design-to-manufacturing process for New Product Introduction (NPI) processes are more important than ever.

Supplyframe sponsored a research study executed by Dimensional Research that surveyed 217 participants at OEMs of 500 or more employees with decision-making responsibility for electronic components.

One of the primary findings was that early and effective collaboration between engineering and sourcing teams is key to sourcing success. Specifically:

  • 99% report direct benefits from early collaboration between engineering and sourcing teams
  • 79% report collaboration issues have caused product introduction delays and 85% say engineers select components that can’t be effectively sourced
  • 95% agree that the path to solving component sourcing issues requires integration of engineering, sourcing, and partners

The full results of this survey are contained in this report: “2020 Trends in Electronic Sourcing.” We invite you to download this report.
