Remote Wireless Network Communications for Emergency Services

The Wireless Research Center at the University of Canterbury and Tait Communications and were recently awarded at the 2014 KiwiNet Research Commercialization awards ceremony held in Auckland, New Zealand. Since 2007, the two New Zealand organizations have combined forces in the development of technology in LTE broadband, narrowband mobile radio, coverage extension, enhanced reliability, and situational awareness. Recently, researchers from the University of Canterbury have developed a remote wireless network communications for emergency services and utility response teams. The portable system can be deployed in remote locations where there is no cellular communication.
