Standardizing Measurements for Perovskite Solar Cell Stability

EPFL  scientists introduce a data-driven proposal for standardizing the measurements of perovskite solar cell stability and degradation. Their work aims to create consensus in the field and overcome one of the major hurdles on the way to commercializing perovskite photovoltaics. Perovskite solar cells are an attractive alternative to silicon solar cells due to their high power-conversion efficiencies (over 22%) and lower capital expenditure and manufacturing costs. One of the greatest obstacles is stability. To be commercially viable, perovskite solar cells must also be able to maintain their efficiency over time, meaning that they must not degrade significantly over 25 years of service.

00:00:04 the efficiency of crosscut saw ourselves have already reached commercial attractive values so the next thing we really have to tackle is the stability of Pro Skater solar cells and we see more and more people measuring stability of prostates solar cells but they do it in completely different ways which means that the data publish is incomparable to each other and that really hampers

00:00:25 entire labor in order to address this problem we build a unique set up to measure stability of crosscut saw ourselves under controlled environmental conditions so you can control temperature we can control light intensity electrical load on a device and the atmosphere and by measuring more than 200 devices we find some peculiarities of Truscott solar cells

00:00:44 which we think the community would benefit if they took them into account the cost guide field is is very exciting if people see all these efficiency increases and a climb from three to twenty two point three four seven percent so all this has been very exciting but one should not forget that at the end you want to put a device out there in the rough environment the

00:01:11 natural environment and it has to last for 20-25 years this is not a general PD cell paper but it uncovered some of the specific feature of health care solar cells
