The Women in Engineering: Rising Star Awards program celebrates and recognizes women engineers who are enhancing the engineering profession through contributions to the industry and society. The nominee should be a leader who represents the very best of the engineering profession as well as inspires other women to follow in her footsteps.

Entries will be judged by an independent panel recruited by SAE Media Group, the organizer of the awards program. Corporate sponsors may submit nominations but cannot participate in the judging. There will be at least one winner chosen per category. Winners will be announced in October 2025.

Eligibility Criteria

Nominees must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Be 45 years of age or younger on May 1, 2025.
  • Have an engineering degree (in any discipline).
  • Have minimum of five-years’ work experience.
  • The competition is open worldwide except prohibited or restricted by national or local law.

Entry Requirements

  • All nominations must be submitted electronically using the nomination form.
  • All entries must be submitted in English.
  • Nominations must be submitted in full, on time, and not exceeding word limits. Late or incomplete nominations as well as content over the word limit will not be considered.
  • Select one category the nomination is being submitted for: Aerospace/Defense, Automotive/Transportation, Electronics, Manufacturing, Medical, or Robotics, Automation & AI.
  • In preparing a nomination, use concrete examples and be specific in describing the work performed by the nominee and its relevance to this award.
  • Provide clear examples that demonstrate the nominee’s leadership, teamwork, and impact on society.
  • Clearly explain how the nominee’s activities and work have contributed to the advancement of women in engineering and inspired others.
  • The nominee’s achievements can be part of the core responsibilities within their workplace or activities beyond their workplace, such as volunteer work.
  • Entries can be submitted on behalf of a nominee or directly by the nominee herself.
  • There is no cost to enter.
  • Except where prohibited by law, the winners consent to the use of their name, images, and/or entry by SAE Media Group for advertising and publicity purposes without further compensation.
  • Entrants agree to abide by the terms of these official rules and by the decisions of the judges, which are final and binding on all matters pertaining to this award program. By entering, they agree to waive any right to claim ambiguity or error in these official rules.
  • The program may be terminated at the SAE Media Group’s sole discretion.

Submission Guidelines

DEADLINE: July 22 at 11:59 PM, Eastern Daylight Time

  • Accurately complete the nomination online using the application form. No email submissions will be accepted.
  • On completion, the nominee will see the “Success! We have received your entry for the Rising Star Award” confirmation on the screen.
  • Nominators must ensure that the phone number and email address provided on the nomination form are current and correct for both the nominee and nominator.
  • The nomination form must be completed online in a single session (you cannot save your work and come back to it later). It is strongly recommended to read the nomination form entirely before you begin to ensure you have all necessary information and documents ready.
  • No exceptions will be made for late entries.
