NASA Puts Hypersonic Sensor to the Test in High-Vibration Lab Trials

NASA successfully completed lab testing of a new hypersonic Fiber Optic Sensing System at Armstrong Flight Research Center in Edwards, California. The system measures strain and temperature—key safety data for hypersonic vehicles traveling at five times the speed of sound. Tests included intense vibration simulations using a shaking device, confirming the system's ability to endure the extreme forces of hypersonic flight.
