EM Microelectronic (Marin, Switzerland) offers the EMBC02 sensor beacon, which integrates a 3- axis accelerometer. By attaching the device to objects or people, both proximity and motion can be monitored with a smartphone or tablet application. The EMBC02 can be programmed to transmit proximity, identification data, motion data (movements, vibrations, acceleration), as well as specific motion-based alarms based on accelerometer data originating from shock, free-fall, or taps. To maximize battery life, data is beaconed only when required, e.g. while in motion, or when an alarm condition occurs. The FCC/CE/IC-certified device is weatherproof and includes a multi-function input button and two LEDs for user feedback.
