Autodesk
(San Rafael, CA) has announced an update to Project Freewheel, a free Web service that enables users to share designs via a built-in messaging tool. Using Project Freewheel, users can share 3D and 2D designs in real-time collaboration sessions. Participants can pan, zoom, and orbit, and everyone sees the same picture. Participants also make comments using sketch and callout markup tools. The update includes the ability to publish 3D and 2D designs from AutoCAD 2008, Inventor 2008, or Revit 2008.Wolfram Research (Champaign, IL) has released Wolfram Workbench 1.1 , the latest version of its integrated development environment (IDE) for Mathematica technologies. Built on the Eclipse IDE, Workbench is used for all stages of the development process, and is fully compatible with Mathematica 6, which enables users to integrate high-performance computing, algorithms, and tools for visualization, data processing, and document preparation.
ITT Visual Information Solutions (Boulder, CO) offers the ENVI Feature Extraction Module that allows ENVI users to extract features from high-resolution imagery. ENVI is a software solution for extracting information from geospatial imagery. The new module uses object-based image analysis to extract features from readily available pan and multi-spectral imagery and data.
FreeDesign (Longmont, CO) has released FreeDimension1.2 freeform 3D surface modeling software. The software enables users to stylize 3D models intuitively, without the need for complex tools to create curved surfaces. It enables the molding of naturally looking organic shapes, ergonomic surfaces, and three-dimensional textures. The new version is compatible with SketchUp Import and Export, and also outputs data into commonly used .OBJ, .POV and .STL formats. It also contains new architecture to add on options according to the needs of users.
