During a recent webcast, a Tech Briefs reader raised an interesting question about self-driving cars:
“Are the industry players considering Courtesy into their logic — for example, allowing other vehicles to cross in front of a car, or allowing others to change lanes when there is a lane-merging situation ahead?”
Certainly the idea of what is considered “polite” could vary from region to region.
““That’s a very good question because it ties into some of the cultural aspects of driving,” Pierre Olivier, CTO of LeddarTech, told the attendee. “it’s one of the challenges of making a solution that can behave in all cases."
