PM2.5 Particulate Matter Sensor

Bosch Sensortec, Stuttgart, Germany, is offering the tiny BMV080 particulate matter sensor. Comparable PM2.5 sensors use a fan to draw air across a laser beam, where a photodiode detects and measures the particulates as they reflect or block the light from the laser. The BMV080, however, utilizes ultra-compact lasers with integrated photodiodes and applies sophisticated algorithms to measure the PM2.5 concentration directly in free space, without requiring a fan.

Vibration Sensor

Kistler, Winterthur, Switzerland, has improved the piezoelectric triaxial accelerometer family 8766A for measuring vibrations in surroundings with extreme temperature changes. Thanks to an improved IEPE circuit, the sensors now feature lower noise thresholds for all its ranges, resulting in even more accurate measurements. Additionally, the new generation includes a model suitable for a measuring range of 2000 g.

Contactless Level Sensors

The capacitive level sensors from EBE sensors + motion, Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Germany, use a contactless sensor technology to continuously measure filling levels of liquids as well as granular or powdery media. They can be attached outside of tanks or other containers and are capable of measuring through almost any non- metallic material. The standard measuring range is up to 100 mm and can be extended as needed on request.

Sheet Metal Dimensional Accuracy Inspection

The Dimensionics Disionic Sheet Control measuring table enables fully automatic dimensional accuracy testing of sheet metal. Using precise laser profile sensors from Micro-Epsilon, Raleigh, NC, it checks the sheet metal blanks for correct width, length, angle, straightness, deflection (convex/concave) and the planarity of the sheet edges. Two scanCONTROL 3000 laser profile scanners are mounted on the XY table and perform the measurement task with a range of 25 mm.

Air Quality Monitor

Terabee, Saint-Genis-Pouilly, France, has launched a connected, cost-effective indoor air quality monitor, Air Quality SB5. It measures the five most in demand ambient metrics in buildings, as it simultaneously gathers data on: Carbon dioxide concentration (CO2), total particulate matter (PM 1, 2.5, 4, 10), total volatile organic compounds (TVOC) index, air temperature (°C and °F), and relative humidity.

Fusion Engine Software

Point One Navigation, San Francisco, CA, announced that its FusionEngine software, a complete, high-performance ASIL-rated precise location solution for automotive applications is now compatible with ST’s TeseoAPP (Teseo ASIL Precise Positioning) GNSS Chipset. The combined solution assures functional safety at ASIL-B, a critical requirement for Level 3+ ADAS systems. It can be easily integrated into a variety of host processors that are used for enabling Level 3+ ADAS and autonomous driving systems.

Power Relay

Omron, Hoffman Estates, IL, announces the G5PZ-X PCB compact power relay. This SPST-NO relay supports high DC voltage applications with its 20A at 200VDC maximum capability. The high DC capacity characteristic makes it ideal for energy storage systems, as well as inrush protection for inverters. The 5.5 mm of insulation distance between the coil and contacts enables a 10 kV impulse withstand voltage.

Production Line Counter

The Leap production Line Counter Wireless Sensor with Downtime Monitoring from Phase IV Engineering, Boulder, CO, integrates proximity sensors to count products as they come off the production line. A count-reset button on top of the enclosure resets the count at the end of a shift. With edge computing, the sensor also calculates the time between each product’s pass to identify when downtime occurs and its duration.

Multi-Range Pressure Sensors

Multi-Range technology from Superior Sensor Technology is available in all its differential pressure sensors. Multi-Range is a proprietary technology that enables one differential pressure sensor to support up to eight different pressure ranges without sacrificing performance. This capability eliminates the need to research, purchase, and design-in multiple differential pressure sensors, which reduces design complexity and lowers system manufacturing costs.
