Avago Technologies (San Jose, CA) released the AEAT-60xx series of non-contact magnetic encoders. Coming in a cylindrical package (23 mm in both diameter and height), the unit is for industrial applications. It can provide absolute angle detection upon power-up, with a resolution of 0.0879 degrees (12-bit versions) or 3.5 degrees (10- bit versions), which are equivalent to 4,096 and 1,024 positions per revolution, respectively. There is no upper speed limit. Housings are included with the encoders, and they are available in 4-, 6-, and 8-mm diameters. Other features include direct connectivity through PCB, synchronous serial interface (SSI) output, RoHS compliance, single 3.3 or 5 V supply, and a temperature range of -40 to 125°C.
