WHO
A humanoid robot developed by Hexagon to address labor shortages as industries adapt to ageing populations and shifting workforce demands.
WHAT
One of the 2026 CES Innovation Awards honorees in the robotics category is AEON — a humanoid robot developed to address labor shortages as industries adapt to ageing populations and shifting workforce demands. Built for industrial environments, AEON can effectively and safely operate alongside workers and take on repetitive or hazardous tasks. It can move around quickly in all directions and perform tasks that require high accuracy via its unique wheel-based locomotion system and integration of dexterous hands. AEON combines agility, spatial intelligence, and versatility to support a wide range of applications such as manipulation, machine tending, asset inspection, digital reality capture, teleoperation, and operator assistance. Its sensor suite and sensor fusion, battery self-swap mechanism, and physical AI capabilities make it stand out among other humanoids. Hexagon Robotics has partnered with Microsoft to advance physical AI. Through this collaboration AEON has already demonstrated real-time defect detection and operational intelligence. Hexagon plans to deploy AEON across automotive, transportation, aerospace, manufacturing, warehousing, and logistics.
WHERE
Hexagon, Sweden
WHY
Humanoid robots can inspect equipment in cramped industrial corridors, navigate hazardous construction zones, and manage logistics in understaffed warehouses.
WHEN
“The strategic partnership with Microsoft is a big step toward realizing our vision to build an autonomous future and address labor shortage across vital industries,” said Arnaud Robert, President, Hexagon Robotics. “We are excited to collaborate with Microsoft to advance our Physical AI roadmap and deploy high-performing and adaptable humanoid solutions for our customers.”
